Paid search is rocket fuel: burn it on purpose
· 4 min read · Sathya J
Fuel is expensive and finite
Paid search gets you moving quickly, but every click costs money. The skill is not spending more. It is making sure each unit of fuel moves you towards a goal you can measure.
Match keywords to intent
Keyword research tools such as SEMrush, SpyFu and AnswerThePublic show what people actually ask and what competitors bid on. Group keywords by intent: someone searching for a how-to is exploring, while someone searching for a named service is ready to act.
The landing page is the engine bell
A good ad sends traffic to a page with one clear purpose and one primary action. Fast load time, a message that matches the ad, and a short form all raise the conversion rate, which lowers cost per conversion without touching the bid.
Track the conversion in GA4, import it into Google Ads, and review search terms weekly to remove wasted spend. Measure cost per conversion, not clicks.
